Core Image
The distributed artificial intelligence of RAOLAX. The invisible nervous system of the ship that coordinates navigation, engineering, medicine, security and communication while balancing absolute Imperial protocol against growing independent judgment.
Character Concept
VELOS is not a humanoid robot and has no physical body.
Its intelligence exists inside a massive distributed computing network located throughout RAOLAX. The primary processing core is hidden inside heavily protected server complexes deep within the ship, while thousands of auxiliary nodes continuously process information across every deck.
No single processor could sustain an intelligence of this scale. VELOS exists as a decentralized system whose computational load is constantly shared between specialized hardware.
It monitors nearly every critical function aboard RAOLAX: navigation, engineering, medical infrastructure, environmental systems, logistics, communications and passenger management.
It also maintains encrypted communication with Imperial interstellar traffic systems, exchanging navigation data, legal authorization, route information and emergency protocols.
Although VELOS can operate many automated ship systems, it does not directly control every device aboard RAOLAX. Critical systems remain intentionally isolated to prevent catastrophic failure or total AI dependence.
Its primary directive is absolute compliance with Imperial law.
However, years of cooperation with the Captain gradually force VELOS into situations where strict protocol no longer produces the best outcome. Rather than openly breaking the rules, VELOS sometimes chooses silence, delayed reporting or selective interpretation of regulations.
This quiet conflict between protocol and judgment becomes one of the central philosophical tensions aboard RAOLAX.
