Characters in MUTERRA are core gameplay units and fully tradable NFT assets that define each player’s strategy, identity, and progression.
Every character is part of the MUTERRA cinematic universe and contributes to the long-term IP of the franchise.

1. What Are Characters #
A character is the unit a player controls in each 5v5 tactical match.
Characters differ by:
- combat role and class,
- abilities and tactical functions,
- growth parameters,
- mutation potential,
- synergy with artefacts,
- rarity and NFT value.
Most characters exist as NFTs, which can be bought, sold, and transferred on open marketplaces (OpenSea, Blur, etc.) and earned through in-game events and lotteries.
Owning a character NFT means owning a piece of the universe — tradable, collectible, and linked to future upgrades and media adaptations.
2. Roles & Classes #
MUTERRA adapts classic MOBA roles to its own mutation-based gameplay, living structures, ballistic combat, and artefact systems.
🗡 Attackers #
- High burst / DPS.
- Pressure lanes and pick off isolated enemies.
- Ideal for aggressive, tempo-driven play.
🛡 Defenders #
- High durability and zone control.
- Protect structures and stabilize territory.
- Form the front line in team engagements.
🩹 Supports #
- Healing, shields, crowd control.
- Manage tempo and enhance teammates.
- Core to team synergy.
🎯 Hunters / Assassins #
- Stealth routes and high mobility.
- Perfect for disrupting enemy economy and rotations.
🌱 Terraformers #
- Manipulate seeds, living structures, and terrain.
- Alter the battlefield dynamically.
3. Rarity & Collectibility #
Characters come in several rarity tiers:
- Common
- Uncommon
- Rare
- Epic
- Mythic
- Legendary
- Genesis / Cinematic Editions
Rarity affects:
- visual quality & VFX,
- alternative models and mutation stages,
- unique animations,
- collectible value and marketplace demand,
- access to certain UGC events.
Higher rarity never breaks gameplay balance.
The advantage is social, cosmetic, collectible — not pay-to-win.
4. Artefacts & Pre-Match Builds #
Before each match, players choose a loadout of Artefacts that shape:
- combat style,
- ability configuration,
- defensive or offensive specialization,
- interaction with living structures,
- resource generation model.
Builds can be adjusted right before the match, based on:
- enemy lineup,
- allies,
- map layout,
- seasonal modifiers.
5. Synergy With AI Assistants #
Each character can be paired with an AI Assistant NFT, which provides:
- tactical suggestions and route optimization,
- reduced toxicity (communication filter),
- adaptive coaching based on player data,
- enhanced synergy with character abilities,
- access to special mutation paths.
6. Personalization: Skins & Forms #
Characters have multiple cosmetic and narrative forms:
- skins (NFT)
- mutation stages
- alternate-universe versions
- seasonal / event variants
- community-created designs (UGC)
Skins are independent NFTs with their own rarity and marketplace value.

- cinematics
- comics and web series
- short films
- future expansions and crossovers
UGC creators can propose:
- new variants,
- evolutionary forms,
- narrative arcs,
- cosmetic models,
- voice packs.
DAO determines what becomes canon.
