Design one passenger, crew member, creature, or entity who was aboard the ship before the crash.

RAOLAX is the name of the ship that carried selected passengers before the crash on MUTERRA.

This is a far-future world where mutation, genetic modification, cybernetic implants, engineered bodies, uplifted animals, and non-human sentient beings are already part of ordinary civilization. There is no magic in MUTERRA — but science, biology, and engineering have advanced far beyond what we understand today.

RAOLAX was not a simple passenger vessel.

It carried people and beings from different planets, systems, classes, cultures, orders, species, and power structures: luxury passengers, scientists, engineers, guards, officers, diplomats, religious figures, prisoners, political dissidents, test subjects, biological cargo, hidden agents, and unregistered passengers.

Every strong character increases the value of the MUTERRA universe.

Character Creation Contest

Create a vertical character avatar for one person who was aboard RAOLAX before the crash.

Choose one character from our references or create your own. The main thing: it must fit MUTERRA lore and visual style — no magic, no superheroes, no generic fantasy. This is far-future sci-fi, and the character must feel like someone who could be on RAOLAX.

This is not just a portrait. You are creating a character, a visual identity, a fragment of biography, a social signal, a possible future NFT, and a possible part of MUTERRA canon.

A strong avatar should communicate the character in one image.

Like a great writer or painter, you should be able to show a full life through one scene, one pose, one expression, one detail.

This sprint is about people before the crash.

Lore & Setting Rules

MUTERRA is far-future sci-fi about survival, mutation, identity, and transformation.

Mutation and cybernetic implants are normal — often necessary for colonizing distant planets.

The core question: when does a human stop being human?

There are no gods and no magic on RAOLAX. Only technologies that may exist 5,000 years from now.

RAOLAX is an intergalactic transport ship. It carries passengers who paid for a ticket, or whose ticket was paid by someone else.

A RAOLAX ticket can cost as much as a small city.

Every character must be interesting. No exceptions.

 

Visual Direction

Style: stylized realism.

The image should feel cinematic, elegant, and believable, but not hyperrealistic.

MUTERRA characters are not superheroes. They are real — even if exceptional — beings who could exist 5,000–10,000 years in the future, far beyond our galaxy.

The style should feel cinematic, mature, slightly stylized, emotionally expressive, premium, readable as an avatar, and connected to sci-fi realism.

Avoid generic cyberpunk, anime clichés, childish fantasy, superhero poses, cheap NFT aesthetics, and random AI-generated beauty without meaning.

Framing

Full body or almost full body is preferred.

The final image may be used as a character avatar, so the face must remain readable when cropped.

Recommended framing:

  • full body;
  • almost full body;
  • 3/4 body;
  • strong vertical composition.

The character should not look like a passport photo.

The pose must carry meaning.

What Makes a Strong Avatar

A strong MUTERRA avatar must communicate the character.

It should show:

  • origin;
  • status;
  • personality;
  • profession or role;
  • emotional control or instability;
  • beauty, power, fear, intelligence, ambition, discipline, softness, arrogance, devotion, or contradiction;
  • one visual detail that makes the character impossible to confuse with others.

A good character is not only “beautiful”.

Before drawing, define:

  • who they were before the crash;
  • why they were on RAOLAX;
  • whether they were a passenger, prisoner, guard, officer, servant, scientist, noble, agent, or hidden cargo;
  • what planet, House, order, corporation, colony, or system they came from;
  • what they wanted;
  • what they were hiding;
  • what made them valuable;
  • what made them dangerous;
  • what MUTERRA could later reveal in them.

The image must make us ask:

  1. What happened to this person?
  2. Why were they chosen for RAOLAX?
  3. What were they hiding?
  4. What will MUTERRA reveal in them?

Originality

Create original characters.

References are allowed, but the final character must not look like a copy of an existing franchise, celebrity, game hero, anime character, movie character, or another artist’s work.

Use references for:

  • pose;
  • mood;
  • costume logic;
  • lighting;
  • materials;
  • cultural inspiration;
  • cinematic composition.

Do not copy identity.

Influence is allowed. Recognition is not.

Technical Requirements

Recommended image size:

1500 × 2000 px minimum
3000 × 4000 px preferred

Format:

  • vertical image;
  • high quality;
  • no visible AI artifacts;
  • clean hands, face, anatomy, clothing logic;
  • readable face;
  • strong silhouette;
  • clear composition.

The image must work both as a full artwork and as a cropped avatar.

 

Submission Process

Create the character avatar. Post the work in the creators channel in Discord and wait for feedback or approval. If the work is strong enough, you will be able to submit it in the Submission section.
